Message After one year of being down, ZWEETT lives again. (Actually since somebody decided to steal my plates ZWEETT is no longer valid. Stay tuned for new plates :-)

Damon and I pulled the engine last March. Dropped block off at builder in June (Stoid Racing in Dallas). Got the block back in October (wasn't in a rush) with Wiseco pistons, Eagle rods, and re-balanced stock crank. Heads were decked and ported with valves/springs/retainers installed.

I took that and finished the build (with complete writeup forthcoming) installing new lifters in the heads and re-assembling everything.

Last weekend Damon and I dropped the engine back in (7 hours start to finish). After priming the system and getting 40psi of oil pressure we started it up. Fired up immediately and purred like a kitten.

I spent the next day putting the exhaust back on and the radiator in. Once the initial fluids were in I fired it up to get it warm so I could burp the system and finish filling it. During this process I noticed OIL ::shudder:: on the ground.

I quickly discovered that I must have screwed up the install of the front crank seal (in the oil pump). Ordered new seals from Coz and three days later had to drop the radiator and basically do a 60k timing belt change to get to that seal. Luckily I had it torn down to the seal in 1 hr 45 min. Replaced the seal using Damon's plastic trick in the 60k tech page (READ IT, USE IT, LOVE IT!) and put everything back together.

Last Friday she fired up with no leaks and I took her out for the day to get re-registered, insured, and inspected (passed with cats but no EGR). 40 miles driven with no problems whatsoever.

Tires are bald and out of round so I just ordered a full set of Bridgestone RE750's from TireRack. Should be here tomorrow or next day and I'll finally be back on the road!

A quick pic of my two mechanical babies

Also got my Defi system installed and running including a hack for dual EGT's!

Mr. K gets it!
